As you might have read earlier this hack can good or bad depending on whose hands your device will fall into. However, it does not hurt learning this simple trick for yourself in case you lock your device.
Let me start with the basics. As you might already be aware of you can make an emergency call even when your phone is locked. This hack exploits this loophole as it gives you a way to unlock your phone. However, it is good to note that this trick will only be possible in Android 4.4 or earlier versions. This is because once Google was alerted of the security issue last year in June, all other new models were fixed.
Here are a few quick steps which you can use to unlock your phone using the emergency call.
1. Turn on your phone if it is off. Then tap on the emergency call button on your device. The dialer will open so that you can be able to make a call.
2. Type a string of special symbols. For instance, you can type 10 asterisks repeatedly.
3. Double tap on the field to highlight the line which will give you a "copy" option.
5. From their on tap on the screen once again so that you can paste the copied text in the same field. This will essentially double the amount of entered symbols.
6. Continue to repeat the same process of sticking the copied characters into the area until the field can no longer highlight the symbols.
7. Head back to the lock screen and open the camera app.
8. At the same time pull down the notification bar and tap the settings icon.
9. Your phone will promptly ask you to enter your password. Long press the field and copy paste the string of symbols. Repeat this whole process a couple of times.
10. As you continue gluing the interface will crash which will cause your lock screen to disappear, and it will be extended to the camera's interface.
11. The camera app will also crash which will allow you to access your phone's interface.
